Hi, Kelley! We're excited to speak with you for this blog. Would you mind  introducing yourself to our readers?

Hi, Folks, I’m Kelley – the accidental wedding designer, or is coincidental a better word?  Over 20 years ago my sister was getting married. We decided we could do it ourselves.  Why we thought that is still a mystery. There was no Pinterest. No Instagram. I might  have had dial-up internet. We had no source for inspiration which turned out to have  been awesome because we could do whatever we wanted without any outside influence.

The wedding was extraordinary, after that friends started asking for help and a business  was born.

2. Give us the story of your passion for florals, and the journey of Event Studio!

I have more than a passion for florals, it’s a passion for creating magic. That sounds so  cliché. A wedding day is pure magic. It’s the day you marry your favorite person,  surrounded by your most loved friends and family. You eat great food. You dance. You  hug. You laugh. There is no other day like this. Because the day itself is so incredible,  the design of that day must be just as incredible. I love taking a couple’s vision and  bringing it to life even better than they imagined.

3. We love working with you here at Bluemont Vineyard. Do you remember the first  wedding you installed florals for at our event venue, The Stable? What was it like?

The first wedding I designed at The Stable was for Jenny & Paul in 2011. I have a super  weird ability to remember every couple. We have done 500 weddings so that’s a lot of  folks! We made a chuppah out of bamboo for Jenny & Paul. I’ve learned a lot over the  years which includes not building each couple their own personal chuppah.

Here is a photo of Jenny & Paul’s chuppah and also a photo of the structure we have in  our inventory that can be reused lots of ways for lots of couples. The Stable has had  quite a glow up since then also! The wooden fence has been replaced by the gorgeous  stone wall.

Relationships are very important to me and to all of our team. Getting to know our  couples and their families is a priority. I think that’s why it’s not so crazy that I remember  500 couples.

One of the things I often say about Bluemont is that the business is entirely family run.  That means everyone involved has to focus on their family relationships above the  potential stress you might find in a business relationship. The entire Bluemont gang is  family, treating each other like family. That trickles down to the couples who get married  there. Couples who marry here feel like they are part of the family.

Bluemont also offers one of the most beautiful views in Loudoun County. Our studio is  somewhere in that view. Wedding guests are in awe when they take their seats for the  ceremony and couples feel like they are on top of the world.

The barn is such a flexible space. We have done super glam, boho, rustic and traditional  designs.
The wine barrels always make for a fun spot for florals.

4. Speaking of this time of year: can you provide insight for brides-to-be about best in-bloom florals for end-of-winter and spring?

The world is so small these days that there are hardly “seasons” for flowers anymore.  When it’s winter here, it’s summer in the southern hemisphere. Greenhouse technology  is amazing. Flowers are pretty much available year-round. Of course there are some breaks in the availability chain for many flowers, like peonies for instance; but with most  of our flowers and greenery flying in from around the world, we have lots to choose from.

5. Kelley, thank you so much for taking the time to talk petals and stems with us!  Where can our readers learn more about you and Event Studio? Just take a peek through our website. Fill out our inquiry form. Let’s get to know each  other!
