We want to take a moment to thank and highlight two of our key players in making these awards a reality for The Stable at Bluemont Vineyard: Debbie Zurschmeide-Schoeb and Amy Thunell. These ladies are both tireless and a pleasure to work with, whether it’s giving tours, leading team education retreats, putting together a wedding celebration in only ten days, planning, organizing, holding meetings (sometimes in creative, out-of-the-box ways), decorating, coordinating and most recently working with our spring wedding couples to reschedule their celebrations due to COVID-19. It was a monumental task with a myriad of details, and they have both put their heart and soul into the job at hand, just as they do day after day to make The Stable a welcome, warm and beautiful place of celebration and joy.

We are humbled and honored to be named the Best of Loudoun and are here to support and  guide our brides and grooms through these turbulent times.

Debbie Zurschmeide-Schoeb, our Director of Sales at The Stable, says selling has always been in her blood. She started with selling strawberries on the side of the road back in Dayton, Ohio with her parents, and supporting her entrepreneurial grandparents selling peaches on the family farm back in Jeffersonville, IN.

Weddings began taking place at The Stable at Bluemont Vineyard in April of 2003, with her brother, Bruce, and sister-in-law, Janell, being the first to get married here. She says it was a tougher sale back then, as the barn had been home to 30 horses and still had the original barn doors. There was no heat, no bathrooms, no kitchen, no walkway, no stone wall, and no paved driveway. Bluemont was not yet a winery, so we could only hold ten weddings per year, and they had to be 30 days apart. Once the winery was launched in 2007, we could hold unlimited events and Debbie took over the sales process in 2008.

Debbie loves working with our wedding clients, helping them see how the Stable can support their wedding vision and seeing them return to The Stable for anniversaries. She loves connecting with people, both our fabulous couples and the amazing wedding professionals we get to work with from Loudoun County and beyond. She is thrilled with the turn-key solution we can offer our clients and the incredible partnership with Savoir Fare, who has been voted Best of Loudoun’s Best Caterer for eight consecutive years now!

We want to thank Debbie for her leadership, vision, book lists, favorite quotes, Bemer sessions and the inspiration she brings to our team!

Amy began her journey with the wedding world when she joined the team of Savoir Fare in 2005. The golden partnership between The Stable and Savoir Fare came into existence in 2012, with Amy coming on board as our Event Planner in 2013.

She refers to her job as ‘the perfect marriage’ between the two businesses, and because she has so much experience working with Savoir Fare, she also serves as the catering manager for our couples. It’s because of her experience and expertise that she has The Stable and all its intricate details operating like a well-oiled machine, with her special Midas touch.

Amy won Visit Loudoun’s Tourism Front-Line Employee of the Year in 2014 and has won Best of Loudoun’s Event Planner in 2018, 2019 and now 2020! We are thrilled to have her on our team, and it is because of her love of people, adaptability in an ever-changing work environment, and fantastic sense of humor that we are also celebrating our Best Venue award, as well! Thank you, Amy, our wonderful Queen of I Dos!
